150 Days

One Hundred Fifty Days until I start my journey to Port Melbourne.

So much has happened since I made my announcement on January 1st, and so much is still to occur.

From a training perspective I am on track with my build, thanks to David from Perform Best. I am ticking of each session, I am completing my post run recovery, keeping on top of my physiotherapy and massage, and I am feeling good. I still have a long way to go but if I stick to the plan and my routines then hopefully things will continue to go well.

Last week I commenced the start of a new block of building up the kilometres, getting back out onto the trails that I love. As the frosty mornings appear I am starting to adjust what I wear to ensure not only am I warm from a comfort point of view but also to ensure I do not pull up with any niggles from cold muscles. My first couple of kilometres I’ve slowed down, and am remaining aware of how my joints and muscles are feeling to ensure I do not overstretch whilst they are warming up.

From a fundraising perspective, we have many events in the pipeline, and although I know many funds will be raised whilst I am actually on the run, I am trying to get a good head start on the total prior. Today the total sits at $21,656.00 thanks to the generous donors and the appearance on Paul Murray Live. Some may think I am a long way of from my million dollar goal, but it is only 163,057 cups of coffee to be donated and if everyone shares this concept then we will make it.

Celeste’s birthday lunch is coming up in August and is shaping up to be a great day, with some surprises in store, and we are also in the process of organising, thanks to a very kind friend, a second hand clothes sale day in September, so are currently taking clothing donations for this.

I have also suggested to those that have asked, what can I do to help, to perhaps hold a gold coin donation day at work, a coffee morning or staff raffle, like some of my friends have organised at their workplaces. This is not only raising money but greater awareness of Stillbirth and you never know who you are helping.

Friday we were excited to release an intro clip to our Voices of Stillbirth Series, which our media team have been working hard on editing footage for our documentary, which will be released early next year. Meanwhile we will release sneak peeks of what is to come.

So yes, a lot in the pipeline, and then there is the running……

Thanks for reading xx
