Double Digits

This past week saw the countdown reach double digit days…
When I started my training back in late January I thought a 9 month build was going to be a long time, and wondered if my body would cope with the load for that long before the event. Now, here I am less than 100 days out, and I am even more motivated, my body is coping well, thanks to a bang on plan from David at Perform Best and I feel comfortable on my long runs. I am also a few weeks into doing some more focused strength and conditioning with Gerard at HPC Coaching and I am already seeing the benefits with my running form on the longer runs. I really do not want to leave anything to chance!

My back to back runs on the trails over the weekend felt really good, I am definitely finding my groove that will help me go the distance. I had awesome company on Saturday and Marcus, especially, was a great pacer!

I have been getting asked a lot “have you always been a runner” to which, if your wondering, no I have not. In actual fact I played a lot of tennis and yes I could move pretty fast around the court, and stay out there all day, but I absolutely hated the warm up laps around Goodwood oval before training.

As my story plays out, I only discovered a love for trail running (a long way) a few years after losing Celeste. A PT friend (Bec) gently immersed me into running and when she started taking me off road, I knew I had found the one thing that lightens my load and helps to keep the dark clouds at bay.

This week we are heading to Brisbane to raise some awareness, so keep an eye out on the socials for what’s in store up there.

Thanks for reading x
